Xavier, alarmed, rushes her to the hospital, where her doctor friend Dr. Hannah —Sean’s wife—nearly reveals the truth but is stopped by Lila. Suspicious, Xavier investigates and discovers Hannah is married to Sean. Assuming Lila is being deceived, he confronts Sean, demanding he break up with her. When Lila witnesses this, she intervenes, driving Xavier away with harsh words. As Xavier and Mia’s wedding approaches, Mia cruelly strips Lila of her last hope for survival. On their wedding day, Lila goes into labor but the baby is born with thalassemia, requiring an urgent bone marrow transplant. Weak and desperate, Lila crashes the wedding, begging Xavier to get tested. Though he despises her, he abandons Mia at the altar and rushes to the hospital—where he finally learns the child is his. Overjoyed, Xavier begs for reconciliation, but Lila, knowing she is dying, pushes him away to spare him future grief. After he leaves, Mia nearly kills Lila in a rage, but Xavier returns just in time. As Lila is wheeled into surgery, the full truth is revealed to Xavier by Sean and Hannah.
