Erhua finds a red silk ribbon on her way home and keeps it out of greed. Little does she know — the ribbon is cursed. When she ties it around her neck, it nearly strangles her. Dazhu saves her just in time. Seeing the marks on her neck, her grandfather presses her for the truth. He warns her the ribbon is an evil object, but Erhua refuses to believe him. Soon, terrifying paranormal incidents begin to haunt her — all linked to the red ribbon. Her grandfather orders her to throw it away. He recognizes it was used for hanging in ghost weddings. Blinded by greed, Erhua thinks he's just trying to scare her. She tries everything to keep the ribbon. Then she attracts a paper spirit and trips over the ribbon while trying to run away.
