The Boat I Chose

Seven years. Seven blank tokens. Each festival, Serafina watched fiancé Marco sail with Bianca, the “sister” he claimed meant nothing. He’d rigged the draw, swapped her tokens, and kept every man from choosing her. She begged, fought, nearly drowned—then learned he never meant to marry her. At the eighth festival, she draws red and boards a stranger’s boat. The rower is the man who waited all along. Marco chases, but she never looks back.
