Inviting trouble in
Zhong Li and Cheng Yi are a married couple with a daughter named Cheng An'an. Zhong Li is kind-hearted and helped Bai Yanyan, a woman suffering from domestic abuse, escape her torment. With Zhong Li's help, Bai Yanyan successfully divorced her abusive husband and gained custody of her child. Their argument led to Zhong Li losing her child, and she agreed to sign the divorce papers in exchange for Cheng Yi hearing the truth. However, the next day, she was kicked out of the house. Zhong Li then realized that Cheng Yi had already schemed to take her house. Desperate, Zhong Li tried to arrange An'an’s funeral, only to find that Cheng Yi had faked the gold gifts she had received. Heartbroken, Zhong Li intentionally interrupted their wedding banquet, and Cheng Yi finally learned the truth. However, when Bai Yanyan turned out to be pregnant, Cheng Yi dropped the issue. Zhong Li, determined to take revenge, partnered with Bai Yanyan's ex-husband, who had been trying to scam her, to sow discord between Cheng Yi and Bai Yanyan. After Cheng Yi lost his career and went into debt, Zhong Li exposed her ex-husband’s true identity, which enraged Cheng Yi. When they had a car accident, Cheng Yi, who had treated Bai Yanyan’s daughter like her own, chose to save her ex-husband instead of Bai Yanyan’s daughter. Cheng Yi finally realized his mistake, but it was too late. Bai Yanyan discarded him like a burden, returned to her old ways, and ended up being beaten by her new lover’s wife. Zhong Li watched all this, feeling immense sorrow, still mourning her daughter, An'an.
