The Gangster’s Captive: His Wife Strikes Back
Xu Yunchu, the daughter of Shanghai's Chamber of Commerce president, was betrayed in her past life by her ""true love,"" Chu Ruoxun, and her best friend, Su Huairu. After they murdered her and her father, she realized too late that the ruthless underworld tycoon Gu Huaijin had loved her all along—avenging her death before taking his own life. Reborn at age 18, Yunchu is determined to rewrite fate. This time, when Gu Huaijin—wounded and fleeing enemies—stumbles into her bedroom, she welcomes him instead of fleeing. Together, they infiltrate the Chu family, reclaiming her stolen inheritance and uncovering proof of Ruoxun’s treasonous dealings with foreign invaders. At their engagement banquet, Yunchu publicly humiliates Ruoxun, exposing his collaboration with Japanese forces. Just as Ruoxun tries to kill her, Gu Huaijin arrives, crippling Ruoxun and tossing him onto the streets to beg. But victory comes at a cost—Huaijin, still distrustful of Yunchu’s sudden affection, locks her in his mansion. Meanwhile, Su Huairu, enraged by Yunchu’s engagement to Huaijin, attempts to seduce him—only to end up in his torture chamber. Through interrogation, Yunchu learns of Ruoxun’s new scheme: posing as a merchant named ""Qinglong"" to broker a deal between the Japanese and traitorous bankers. At a high-stakes trade conference, Yunchu outsmarts Ruoxun by revealing herself as the real Qinglong, backed by a warlord’s testimony. Ruoxun’s Japanese ally, Zhongcun Xiongrui, executes him to curry favor with Yunchu—but when she refuses his opium trade offer, he kidnaps her father. Though Huaijin rescues her father and burns Zhongcun’s opium stash, the villain frames Huaijin for her father’s murder. Yunchu pretends to fall for the deception, luring Zhongcun into a trap where she and Huaijin turn the tables, handing him over to anti-Japanese forces. In the end, Yunchu and Huaijin shed all misunderstandings, their love and vengeance both fulfilled.
