During a family health check-up, the hospital mixed up the medical records of Hannah, the mother-in-law, and Clare, the daughter-in-law. This caused Hannah, who was suffering from stomach cancer, to mistakenly believe she was in good health, while Clare was diagnosed with cancer. Meanwhile, knowing the truth, Clare stumbled upon evidence that her husband, Jere, was having an affair. Both Hannah and Jere showed little interest in seeking treatment for her condition. Homeless and desperate, Hannah and Jere moved in with the mistress, Lexi. They soon faced further trouble when Davin tracked them down and forced Hannah to drink an entire bottle of chili water.
