Canny returns to her home country for her father’s second wedding, feeling happy for him and hoping he finds a lifelong partner. She even decides to hand over her position as the head of the socialite club to her father’s fiancée. At the airport, Canny is catching up with her father and son when paparazzi snap a photo, spreading rumors that she and Soley are the mistress and illegitimate child of Sohan. Sherry sees the news and mistakenly believes Canny is the mistress. She drags Darice and Sophie to the old house to confront her. When Canny sees them arriving, she’s shocked to discover that her father’s fiancée is a former college classmate who once bullied her. Sherry and the others mock Canny, calling her lowly and a mistress. Canny tries to explain, but Sherry doesn’t listen and starts bullying her instead. Because Canny and Sherry are wearing the same outfit, Sherry rips Canny’s clothes off, destroys the doll her mother left her, and even smashes the memorial for her late mother. Sherry forces Canny to reveal Soley’s whereabouts, and when Canny refuses, Sherry gets angrier. She tries to force Canny to drink oil from the eternal lamp in the memorial hall. Just in time, Soley shows up. Sherry orders Darice and Sophie to hold Soley, but he evades them with ease. When Sherry isn’t paying attention, Soley escapes her grip, and in the struggle, his brooch falls off, which looks identical to one Sohan wears. Sherry accuses him of stealing it and calls Canny’s family corrupted.
